It's finally here! One of my favorite weeks of the year, its Dr. Seuss week. This is a week full of imagination, play and fun! I love that we get to celebrate Dr. Seuss and all the education he continues to impart with his creativity.

Dr. Seuss was; an author, a poet and an educator among many things. In his lifetime he published 46 children's books often characterized by animated characters and rhyme. The words, the characters and the color of his books seem to make your imagination leap off the page. This week we hope to ignite that same passion and fervor in our children!

Every day this week we have a simple and special activity for you and your child to do to help bring that magic to our classroom.

Monday – "The Cat in the Hat" day, wear your favorite hat to school.

Tuesday – "Fox in socks" day, wear your favorite Wacky pair of socks.

Wednesday – "Crazyhead Macie" day, wear your hair in a crazy up-do.

Thursday – "Green Eggs and Ham" day, where the color green.

Friday – "I can read with my eyes shut" day, wear your favorite storybook character outfit.

Also, here are some fun projects for you to do together at home:

Make a Dr. Seuss hat by following these few simple steps:

1. Cut a head hole out of the middle of a sturdy paper plate *works best if the plate has a little bit of a "bowl" to it*

2. Glue two pieces of large red construction paper together so it's big enough to fit around the "bowl edge" of the paper plate

3. Cut white paper into even size strips

4.Glue on white strips

5. Cover the backside"bowl edge" of plate with glue, fold red paper around it, and glue edges of red paper together. Tada! Your very own Dr. Seuss hat.

If you're anything like my family you can follow this project with a dance party or parade. 😉

Another fun idea is to wrap a vase or cup in red and white crepe paper to make your vase look like a Dr. Seuss hat. Then go on a nature walk with the Littles and find beautiful things to fill your vase with.

Above all remember the reason for the week is just to explore and use your imagination together! Happy creating!

Additional note: Please feel free to submit an email requesting topics for the blog. I would love to write about and learn about whatever it is you would like to cover. I just need your guidance as to what direction you'd like me to go. Please accept my sincerest gratitude in advance.
